A term that gets thrown around a lot in the fitness industry. This is essentially putting on muscle and reducing body fat (improving your body composition). Shorter, more intense workouts challenge our body by making it do things it isn’t used to. I believe that your body’s composition (muscle vs fat) is much more important than the number on the scale. If you want to get fit and "toned", don’t be too concerned with the scale and concentrate on the composition of your body, especially if you’re after the lean look.


In order to tone up, you need to increase muscle tissue as well as having a low enough body fat percentage to see the definition and shape of the muscles. Toning exercises are all about adding resistance, via bodyweight training and weight training.

It's safe to say that all of my clients feel better after leaving their sessions. Training is as much about improving mental health as it is physical health. Even if your main goal is to simply "feel better", that is great! My Coaching style isn't to train clients into the ground and have them leave sessions feeling shattered. Whilst training with me, I want all of my clients to learn as much as they can, so that they can implement my advice when training alone. Ensure that you enjoy your training sessions and results which come a lot more naturally.


“Sport-specific” training is simply fitness and performance training designed specifically for athletic performance enhancement. It is a means of simulating a movement or exercise in the gym, with the intention of it transferring to the field, regardless of what the field is.
